Even after a change of ownership, the flavor remains the same at Sunnyside in the old plantation town of Wahiawa, where I grew up.
Started the day right with yogurt and granola... had a nice protein shake and half a tuna sandwich for lunch. Then we drove way too close by Sunnyside, so I had to get a cheeseburger AND a teriyaki-beef sandwich as a little, uh, after lunch snack.
Famous for their breakfast fried rice (includes a grilled hot dog!), daily plate lunch specials and homemade pies that sell out daily, their handmade burger patties are another item that's stood out for decades.
They cut the ground beef with some type of bread, which is their special ingredient.
Dang, should've took a photo of the specials menu.
